Former League Chair Dan Norris arrested over more alleged sexual offences
Police Investigation Continues Into Allegations Against Former League Chair Dan Norris

An investigation into allegations of serious sexual offences involving former League Against Cruel Sports Chair Dan Norris is continuing, Avon and Somerset Police confirmed on 2 February.
In a statement, the force said officers from Operation Bluestone, its specialist rape and serious sexual assault investigation team, began enquiries in December 2024.
A man in his sixties was initially arrested in April 2025 on suspicion of sexual offences against a girl under the Sexual Offences Act 1956, rape under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, child abduction and misconduct in a public office.
Police now say the individual has since been further arrested on suspicion of rape involving a second woman, sexual assault against a third woman, and allegations of voyeurism and upskirting involving a number of women.
The force added that it is no longer actively investigating allegations relating to sexual offences against children, but enquiries into the original rape and misconduct in a public office allegations remain ongoing.
All alleged offences are said to have taken place between the 2000s and 2020s. The man remains on conditional bail while investigations continue.
Police emphasised that investigations into sexual offences are complex and can take significant time to complete.
Dan Norris, who served as Chair of the League Against Cruel Sports, resigned from the role following his arrest last year.
His position at the charity had already attracted controversy, as he had been reappointed as Chair in 2024 in circumstances the organisation has never publicly explained. The League has not disclosed how or why the decision to reinstate Norris was reached, nor what due diligence processes were followed at the time.
The charity has also not publicly addressed whether any review of governance procedures has taken place following Norris’s subsequent resignation.
Avon and Somerset Police say enquiries remain ongoing. No charges have been brought, and the investigation continues.
